e-Learning
at the Foundation
Dr. Shawn Koppenhoefer
INTRODUCTION
We have made accessible an 'online learning system' in parallel to the
regular web pages at GFMER. This tool will
assist in the management of course resources (discussion forum, web resources,
pdf/powerpoint files etc.) that accompany the other web pages of the Foundation.
GETTING STARTED (for Students and Teachers)
1. How to get an account
Fill out the New Account
form with your details (user name, password etc.).
We will immediatley send you a confirmation to your email address. Read
your email, and click on the web link it contains. This will confirm
your account and you will be logged in.
If you already have an account, then login by clicking here: LOGIN
2. How to participate in a course
Once you are logged in, select the course you want to participate in.
You can now access the resources the teacher of the course has made
accessible. From now on you will only need to enter your personal username
and password (in the form on this page) to log
in and access any course in which you are participating.
3. To learn more
If you wish to learn more about CMS and other Information-Technologies
at the Foundation, then you may consider joining the GFMER module
called Information
Technology Support.
FOR TEACHERS
If you are a teacher then you will be
attributed special privileges which allow you to modify the course
which you are teaching. Under the ADMINISTRATION panel you may access
the SETTINGS
of your course and thereby modify elements such as the name of the
course, the summary description and other details. By turning EDITING
ON you
may easily add discussion forums, chat rooms, and other resources.
