Doctors/health professionals intending to undertake a randomized clinical trial or a Cochrane systematic review.

Priority field

Obstetrics/Reproductive Health (other fields also welcome)

Objectives

To equip participants with knowledge, skills and mentorship to:

  1. Plan, conduct, analyze and publish a randomized clinical trial
  2. Conduct a systematic review of randomized trials for publication in the Cochrane Library
  3. Use RevMan, Epi-info and WHO Reproductive Health Library software

Course structure

  1. Pre-course preparation:
    1. Preparatory study of course materials (approx 16 hours).  Course materials including computer programmes will be sent out on CD-ROM.
    2. Participants are encouraged to select a topic for a randomized clinical trial or systematic review they intend to conduct, and to do background reading.
  2. Intensive 4-day course with hands-on computer training, 20-23 July 2004,
  3. Optional certificate examination.
  4. Optional individual mentoring to assist participants to work on their selected clinical trial or systematic review.
