I would like to briefly describe my qualifications and experience, as detailed in my CV. I'm with PhD in Statistics (Modeling the Impact of HIV/AIDS on Mortality in Sub-Saharan Africa) and M.Sc. in Demography. I was graduated from the University of Gezira- SUDAN with B.Sc. honors in Applied Statistics and Demography in 1994.
After graduation immediately, I was appointed as a Teaching Assistant at the same department. Following completion of the M.Sc. degree, I was promoted to the job of a lecturer. The competencies and experiences on teaching and research enabled me to be promoted to the job of Assistant and Associate Professor (see my publications).
I worked as a head of the department of Applied Statistics and Demography (DASD) for six years; I contributed to the development of DASD by establishing a number of training programmes and increasing the number of staff and students. Also I was assigned the responsibility of Director of Population Studies Center in the University of Gezira. I was successful in managing, training, and motivating the staff, sourcing funds from different donor agencies and developing credible research and training programmes and activities for the Center. The competencies and experiences at the national level enabled me to pursue an international career since September 2009. I joined Jazan University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine as well as a head of the Unit of Bio-Statistics and Epidemiology of the Medical Research Centre in the same University.
Throughout my B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. studies, I have acquired a background that provides me with distinguished qualifications to deal with research in Bio-statistics, Reproductive Health and Demography. In addition, I have taught a wide range of applied statistics courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Also I supervised a number of postgraduate students at both level M.Sc. and PhD.
I have attended advanced training programs on Bio-Statistics, Reproductive Health and Demography in a number of international universities and institutes in UK, Egypt, South Africa, Tanzania and Saudi Arabia. Also I participated in a number of National, Regional and International Conferences by presenting scientific papers and posters.
In my capacity as statistician, I provided the technical inputs for conducting surveys and data analysis in the area of population and health. I provided the technical leadership for design, application, and evaluation of survey instruments. Also as an expert in data analysis, I'm familiar with the different methods of data analysis as well as the different statistical softwares.
