Dr. Joseph Enegela was born on the 28th of September 1974. He graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in 2003 and in 2013 obtained a Post Graduate diploma in Global Health and Infectious Diseases from the University of Edinburgh. He has attended numerous short courses including some in grants writing, leadership and management in health, advanced antiretroviral therapy amongst others. He is certified by the American Academy of HIV medicine as a Specialist and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public health. He has spent the last 6 years in HIV programming prior to which time he was Medical officer in charge of a Secondary health facility in the Benue state government in Nigeria.

He was nominated as one of 50 Emerging Voices for Global health by Institute of Tropical Medicine Antwerp and University of Western Cape in 2013. He is interested in research and is open to cross specialty collaboration on issues concerning global health and infectious diseases. He is currently the Senior Technical Advisor Clinical services and Deputy Project Direct on the CDC-USG funded IPSAN [Integrated Programs for Sustainable Action Against HIV/AIDS in Nigeria] project implemented by Pro Health International.
