A graduate of King Edward Medical College, Dr Noreen Zafar obtained the membership of Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London in 1995. She is the first Pakistani to be granted The Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training by the Joint Committee of Medical Royal College, UK, in 1999. In 2007 she was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College, London.
She has been recognized internationally for her extra ordinary services for girls and women’s health. Dr Zafar was awarded International Fellowship jointly by The American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and FIGO in June 2000 .She received “Overseas Fund grant” in 2001 and “Bernhard Baron Traveling Fellowship” from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), UK.
Dr Noreen Zafar was elected as member of the Pakistan Representative Committee of the RCOG in 2004. Dr Zafar was honored with “National Women Award” for recognition of extra – ordinary services in the field of girls and women health on 4th August 2007 in Lahore and on International Women’s Day in March 2010.
In 2009, Dr Zafar received the The 2009 John M Eisenberg Award, for Quality and Patient Safety in the International Individual Achievement Category, by The Joint Commission and The National Quality Forum, USA (www.qualityforum.org and www.jointcommission.org).
Presently she is working as The Head of Girls and Women’s Services at Al Razi Healthcare and Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Doctors Hospital, Lahore. Dr Zafar also serves as Associate Professor in The Center of Human and Population Studies Lahore.
Dr Zafar is a frequent speaker on Girls and Women Health issues in schools, colleges, women’s clubs and universities and in media programs, both radio and television.
