Sylvia was born and grew up in Kenya. She qualified and graduated as a nurse-midwife in the year 1999, graduated from University of Kenya Methodist University, Kenya with BSc-Nursing and from Kenyatta University, Kenya with MSc healthcare management. She has worked as a clinical instructor in midwifery and health quality improvement coordinator in various health care institutions within Kenya. Currently she is working as a technical officer responsible for 2 large regions in Kenya, coordinating the implementation of the Making it Happen programme, by the Centre for Maternal and Newborn health, Liverpool school of tropical medicine – Kenya.

She loves working with communities and governance executives, especially in initiatives that improve and promote health and quality of maternal and new-born health.

She has a great family, married with 2 adorable children.
