Abiodun Essiet was born on the 3rd of January, 1986. She graduated from Ladoke Akintola University Osun State, Nigeria in 2009 with Bachelor in Nursing Science, and also with a Registered Nurse, Registered Midwife and Registered Public Health Nursing certificates. She obtained a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of Ibadan in 2014-2015. Abiodun Essiet is a youth leader and the Chief Executive Officer of a Non Governmental Organization that focuses on promoting girl child education and women empowerment which has been in operation for six years. Abiodun has several years experience in teaching teenagers about sexual education, teenage pregnancy and HIV/AIDs. She wrote a book titled "What parent needs to know about their teenagers”. Currently she is working on professionalism of domestic work in Nigeria with the support of the Government (National Commission on Mass literacy and Adult Education), FIWON-Federation of Informal Workers of Nigeria, CDTD- Center for Domestic Training and Development, Kenya and American Solidarity Center, Abuja, Nigeria.

During her undergraduate and post graduate years, she was involved in the school politics and campaigned to occupy several positions at the department and faculty level of the student association, presently she will be representing Nigeria in the Model ECOWAS Summit by May 2016 in Ghana as the Minister for Health and she will be presenting a position paper on Youth development.
