Dr Betty Nakabuye was born on the 18th December 1986 in Uganda. She graduated from Makerere University Kampala, Uganda in 2010 with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) and obtained Masters of Medicine in Obstetrics and gynecology of Uganda Martyrs’ University in 2014.

She has been actively involved in the running of department of Obstetrics and gynecology at Nsambya Hospital since 2009 as an intern doctor, medical officer, senior house officer and specialist. She is currently the head of department of Obs/Gyn at Benedict medical centre.

Her duties involve provision of medical and surgical care to women with particular expertise in pregnancy, childbirth, and disorders of the reproductive system. This includes preventative care, prenatal care, detection and management various gynecological conditions, other sexual and reproductive health activities including family planning.

This job also involves mentoring, supervising and teaching postgraduate medical doctors perusing masters of medicine in obstetrics and gynecology of Uganda Martyrs' University Nkozi, Kampala (Uganda).

She has strong passion for sexual and reproductive health provision became evident while at university (undergraduate) when she was involved in the Makerere University Medical Student Association-Health Outreach Project (MUMSA-HOP) that greatly provided peers with sexual and reproductive health at the University. This grew to extent volunteering as an instructor on Emergency obstetric and neonatal care to midwives in some hard to reach areas in Uganda.

She is an active member of the association of obstetricians/gynecologists of Uganda (AOGU).
