Clinical mentorship exercise in support of HIV/AIDS care services in a Bumasobo health centre in Uganda - Majid Batambuze

Majid Batambuze and colleagues head up to a Bumasobo Health Centre III in Uganda for a quarterly clinical mentorship exercise in support of HIV/AIDS care services. The staff at the facility team up with the mentors to review the progress of the services which focuses mainly on prevention or elimination of mother to child transmission of HIV using the option B plus strategy. The teams review performance in terms rates of HIV testing, initiation of Anti-retroviral therapy (ART) and documentation of these activities at various points in the health center including OPD, ANC, maternity, and young child clinic (YCC). Quality improvement projects may be set up to address whatever gaps are identified and prioritized by the facility.
