Carlota’s Masters Ceremony in Parma University, Italy - Maria Carlota Ngombe Victor

What a pleasure to see the well-deserved reward after such a hard work! With a bright smile on her face, Carlota is showing her diploma at the Graduation Ceremony of her Master in Parma, Italy. A victory shared by ten other African doctors. The University of Parma provides a Masters program on International Health and Medicine for doctors from developing countries, mainly Africa. This program is designed to respond to the needs of medical doctors who provide health care in difficult circumstances and with limited resources. Within this program the participants acquire up-to-date skills and knowledge in health facility management as well as clinical procedures.

It is worth mentioning that as part of its partnership with the University of Parma, the Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research (GFMER) provides its online course: “From Research to Practice: Training Course in Sexual and Reproductive Health Research” to the Masters program students of the University of Parma.

After completing module 4 about Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health during the GFMER training course in Sexual and Reproductive Health Research 2012, Carlota feels particularly touched by the number of problems adolescents face during the stages of their development. Therefore she decides that the dissertation for the final work of her master will be about improving the quality of Health Services provision to adolescents in Cabinda, Angola. What Carlota calls “Adolescent Friendly Health Services”.

Congratulations Carlota!
