The Oxford Evidence-based Management of Pre-eclampsia and Eclampsia
Training Course in Mekelle, Ethiopia December 12, 2011 Local Coordinator: Dr Mengistu Asnake Kibret Project Coordinator: Dr. Marloes Schoonheim The Oxford University Maternal and Perinatal Health Institute (OMPHI) in collaboration with Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research (GFMER) has provided health professionals from Mekelle University with a one-day, free training on The evidence-based management of pre-eclampsia and eclampsia. The training was developed as an e-learning module by the Nuffield Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (NDOG), University of Oxford and funded by the MacArthur Foundation through EngenderHealth. On December 12, 26 health professionals from Gondar University attended the evidence-based management of pre-eclampsia and eclampsia training in the university’s computer department. Among the participants were obstetricians, gynaecologists, GPs, staff from the midwifery department, staff from the public health department, staff from the University Hospital and students from various departments. The training took four hours and was followed by 20 multiple-choice questions based on the training. All participants were presented with certificates jointly signed by the Nuffield Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology of the University of Oxford, GFMER and Dr. Zerihun Abebe, Dean of Health Sciences, Mekelle University.
