Physcian and Clinical Research Coordinator, Medical Research Council UK, The Gambia Unit, Banjul, Gambia

I graduated from the University of Calabar in 2002 with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree. I completed my specialization training in 2010 at the Nnamdi Azukiwe University Teaching Hospital in Nnewi South East Nigeria and became a fellow of the Nigeria Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in 2015. Because of my interest in research, I joined the Medical Research Council UK, The Gambia Unit in 2011 where I was the Clinical Research Coordinator for the Pneumococcal Surveillance Project. During this period, I was involved in a World Health Organization coordinated meningitis surveillance program during the 2012 meningitis outbreak in the Central River Region of the Gambia.

I obtained a masters in Medical Sciences with specialization in global health from the prestigious Karolinska Institute in Stockholm and second masters degree in Public health from Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK. I was also awarded a Master degree with Distinction in Educational leadership and Administration by the University of Nicosia in Cyprus.

My ultimate career ambition is to significantly impact on the mental, physical and sexual health of children and adolescents through clinical management, sound research activities and direct education of this vulnerable age group. Participation in this program I believe will further enhance my ability to achieve this goal.
