Twenty-six humanitarian missionaries on the road to Timbuktu, North of Mali - Abou Diallo

Dr Abou Diallo (in this picture), a general practitioner, who participates in GFMER Training Course in Sexual and Reproductive Health Research 2013 has just arrived in Timbuktu in the North of Mali by pinasse (local river boat) along with 26 other humanitarian missionaries sent by the National Medical Council (Conseil National de l'Ordre des Médecins). Timbuktu, known as the city of the 333 Saints consists of several different localities, where some members of Abou Diallo group are going to stay. The mission of Dr Diallo and his co-workers is to provide psycho-social support, prevent and treat diseases and to provide surgical emergency care, such as caesarean sections to the populations. After Timbuktu, their mission continues to Diré located 80 km south-east of Timbuktu.
