Awareness about the preparation and utilization of water treatment chemicals, Lake Chamo, Arba Minch, Ethiopia - Habtamu Nega

I am Habtamu Nega who is providing awareness about the preparation and utilization of water treatment chemicals before people use water from Lake Chamo, Arba Minch, Ethiopia.

The participants were young fishers who are living by isolating themselves at the beach side of Lake Chamo. The way they are living is very deteriorated because of lack of safe drinking water.

Before I gave them continues awareness creation on keeping of their hygiene and sanitation they were using water which was contaminated with Vibrio cholerae. As a result, many of the fishermen were sick and one of their colleagues died due to cholera. Immediately after the education they started using water treatment chemicals, use of sanitary facilities, consuming cooked food items, and stopped eating raw fish. Thus, morbidity and mortality decreased radically.
