Do you know that #COVID19 transmission is high among younger people in Nigeria? According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), “the COVID-19 disease in Nigeria is being spread by young persons between the ages of 20 and 40.” But do young people understand what this means for their health and the health of their loved ones, particularly their parents and grandparents? Generally, no!

Today, the Strong Enough Girls' Empowerment Initiative (SEGEI) Team was honored to have one of Nigeria’s finest adolescent sexual and reproductive health trainers and former “Best Teacher in Lagos State” winner, Bose Deji-oderinde (who is also a SEGEI Board Member) facilitate an interactive virtual 2-hour training with our team on the adolescent health needs of young people during the current pandemic and how to be a Sexuality Educator.

Because we care about what young people are going through in this season and want to provide effective solutions, SEGEI will be launching a national assessment this weekend to gather feedback from adolescents and young people about the impact of the pandemic and necessitated lockdown on their #education, #health and general wellbeing.
