The National Institute of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology is a
Science and Technique unit of the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba.
Its function is to direct, to execute and to control the Plan of Science
and Technological Innovation, as well as to guarantee the support of Scientific
Information in the area of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health, with
an orientation toward the Primary Health Care. It’s devoted to the Scientific
Investigation, the Education and the Scientist-Technical Services related
with the Environmental Health, The School Health and the Epidemiology of
Non Communicable Diseases. It has the National Centre of Reference of Information
in Hygiene and Epidemiology.
The National Institute of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology Is a Collaborating
Centre of WHO in Housing area.
It is organized in four Vice directions:
