World AIDS Day 2008 Celebrations

The celebrations at FJMC included the following activities:
- Awareness seminar
- Poster competition
- Sensitization drama performed by students
Those who spoke at the seminar included the following:
- Prof. Abdul Majeed Chaudhary, Principal Fatima Jinnah Medical College, Lahore
- Dr. Nasir Sarfraz, Provincial Program officer UNAIDS Punjab
- Dr. Ali Razzaque, Project Director Punjab AIDS Control Program
- Dr. Fuad Hameed Rai, Director General National Center for Sexual and Reproductive Health
- Dr. Rakshanda Fareed, Head of Department Community Medicine, Fatima Jinnah Medical College, Lahore
- Dr. Adnan Saeed, Acting Secretary Punjab Red Crescent Society
In addition to this the students of FJMC participated in a poster competition, the theme of which was "Lets prevent the spread of AIDS and Sensitization on HIV/AIDS related issues". Prizes were given to those students who stood first, second and third in the competition. The main judge was Mr. Shahid Farooq, a renowned artist from Department of Fine Arts, Punjab University, Lahore.
The last activity was that of the drama performed by students of FJMC to sensitize the audience how to break news to a person who is HIV positive and then how to take care of him. Around seven students participated in this drama and it was very much appreciated by the audience.
The function was attended by more than three hundred students of various classes and by around one hundred other guests. All the guests were served with refreshments. The speakers at the seminar were given shields, students who participated in the function as organizers and those who participated in the drama were given certificates.
