Open call for foresight and research priority setting for sexual and reproductive health and rights

SRHR Foresight Open Call for Contributions
The Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research is pleased to share this open call from WHO. We hope that you and your colleagues will take part in it.
Open call: what will shape the future of sexual and reproductive health and rights?
HRP (the UNDP/UNFPA/UNICEF/WHO/World Bank Special Programme of Research, Development and Research Training in Human Reproduction), together with its UN cosponsors, is leading a global sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) foresight and research prioritization process for 2026–2036. Two questions guide the work:
- what future trends will shape or constrain SRHR over the next ten years?
- what evidence and research investments are needed today to prepare for the futures we may face?
This work will inform a foresight report and a forward-looking SRHR research agenda in Q2 2027, providing a resource that supports stakeholders to better anticipate and prepare for the futures that may shape SRHR. The methodology draws on guidance from HRP’s Scientific and Technical Advisory Group (STAG) and Policy and Coordination Committee (PCC), and the process is steered by a Core Working Group of WHO, HRP and cosponsor colleagues.
The first phase of this work is horizon scanning and signal collection, for which we have launched an open public consultation to gather “signals” of change: emerging issues, trends, innovations or disruptions that may shape SRHR over the next decade. The short survey is available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish, and open to anyone whose experience, expertise or work offers insight into the future of SRHR.
Hearing from you matters a great deal to us. This process is only as strong as the range of perspectives behind it, and we are particularly keen to capture insights from those working closest to communities, whose experience rarely appears in published literature.
Submissions close on 30 September 2026 and can be made here. You can find full details on the open call webpage, including a short video explaining this work.
Please share this open call with your networks, colleagues and organizations whose perspectives would strengthen this process. Feel free to reach out to srhrforesight@who.int with questions or for further information on how to stay involved.
Thank you for sharing this and for helping us make sure the process is genuinely participatory.
