I was born in Mae Sa Mike village, Hlaing Bwe Township, Karen State, Myanmar. It is one of the villages on the Thai-Myanmar Border. I completed Nursing and Midwifery Training in Mawlamyine General Hospital, Myanmar. I graduated from the University of Yangon in 1996. I started working as a Trained Nurse in Hlaing Bwe Hospital in 1994. I took Critical Care Nursing Training in Yangon General Hospital in 1998. I continued working in the ICU, at Yangon General Hospital for four years. Then I had worked in All Saints Nursing Home and in the National Kidney Foundation in Singapore for two years. I joined the MAA Medical Kidney Charity Fund in Malaysia for two years. I have been working clinically, teaching and involved in research in Shoklo Malaria Research Unit as a senior midwife since January 2009.
