Dr Tawakalit Olubukola Salam was born on the 19th June 1980, in Ibadan, Nigeria. She had her junior secondary school at Queen’s School, Apata, Ibadan and senior secondary school at Wesley College of Science, Elekuro, Ibadan. She graduated from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria in 2007 with Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). She is presently working and doing her residency programme in Family Medicine at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. She is happily married.

She is a member of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Association of Resident Doctors, University College Hospital, Ibadan (ARD), Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), and Society of Family Physicians of Nigeria (SOFPON).

She was one time a member of Residency Training Committee, Constitution Review Committee, House of Representative and Treasurer of the ARD, UCH. She is currently the Publicity Secretary of SOFPON, Ibadan Zone and the Assistant Coordinator of Young Doctors Forum of MWAN, Oyo State Chapter.

She is active in health promotion through health talks in schools, organizations and communities and on radio programmes. Her presentations include low back pain, benign breast diseases in the young, arthritis, cutaneous manifestations of common STIs, intimate partner violence. She also belongs to groups involved in “stop violence against women and children” and “HPV vaccination of eligible young girls”.
