Winners of writing competition on menstrual hygiene management, Aggrey Memorial Senior High School, Cape Coast, Ghana - Cletus Asare

These are students of Aggrey Memorial Senior High School in Ghana, who won the newly introduced writing competition for students on Adolescent Health Issues. The last health topic discussed by students was Menstrual Hygiene Management. The National High School Magazine project was designed to project the voices of adolescents on issues, including health issues, that affect them. The project adopts the Social Cognitive Theory, focusing on the self-efficacies of individual adolescents and young people across Africa and enabling them to “observe” some of the actions and inaction, and the consequences thereof, of their peers across each country. Therefore, a student in Aggrey Memorial Senior High School shares his or her experiences on Menstrual Hygiene Management or other SRHR related health issues, then another student in, for instance, Tamale Girls Senior High School or any other Senior High School learns from the experiences and advice of this student.

This innovative project was designed and is being implemented by Advocate 4 Youth (www.advocate4youth.org) in a few African countries and still trying to reach other countries.
