Mrs. Chowa Tembo Kasengele was born on the 13th July, 1972. She graduated from the University of Zambia, Zambia in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and majored in Maternal Newborn and Child Health care. She has held the positions of District Nursing Officer Maternal and Child Health at a Government institution (May, 2012 to July, 2014), and Principal Nursing Officer Reproductive Maternal Newborn Child and Adolescent Health for the entire Luapula Province. Currently, she is a Chief Nursing Officer in the Women and Newborn Hospital.

She maintains her nursing and midwifery skills by actively involving herself in planned and unplanned mentorship. She is also an active member of Lugina Africa Midwives Research Network (LAMRN) since 2013 were she is involved in some research projects particularly in reproductive health.  She is also affiliated to the General Nursing Council of Zambia, Zambia Union of Nurses Organisation, Midwife Association of Zambia (Currently Provincial Chairperson), WHO Department of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Women Deliver, International Stillbirth Alliance, Research Gate, Averting Maternal Death and Disability Literature Review, Global Health eLearning Center and ReproLinePlus. She is married with two lovely children; a boy and a girl.

During her undergraduate course at the University of Zambia, she was actively involved in the University of Zambia Nurses Association (UNZANA) as a Committee Member and at the end of training, she was awarded a certificate of achievement by the Dean of Medicine.
