Caleb Ikutu Chisienya is a Health Records and Information Manager employed by the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation in the Kenya Government since July 1986. He studied Certificate in health Records and Information technology (1986 and Diploma in Health Records and Information (1993) and Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing (1998) at Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), Nairobi. He has worked in various health institutions including Nandi Hills District Hospital, Kenyatta National Hospital, Provincial General Hospital Nakuru and District Medical Officer’s office Nandi East district. His duties and responsibilities included data collection, compilation, tabulation, analysis, interpretation, dissemination, supervision and heading health records and information department. He organized and participated in the training courses for commodity management, prevention of mother to child infection, data management, roll out of district health information system (DHIS) and health sector services fund among others.
Currently, he holds the following responsibilities; district health records and information manager, Nandi East district, Secretary Union of Kenya Civil Servants – Nandi South branch, Regional representative Association of health records officers and Training of Trainers in HIV/AIDS, Commodity Management, District health information system (DHIS) and Mentorship in HIV/AIDS.
He studied Leadership – Leading for results (Leadership Development Programme) (2004) organized by Management Science for Health (MSH). Management and Administration Training of Trainers course for HIV?AIDS programme managers – Arusha Tanzania (2007), supervisory management (2001), Mid-level Management course on Expanded programme on immunization, hospital management (2007), Strategic planning for health services (2007), prevention of mother to child infection (2006), HIV test kits logistics (2005), Financial management skills (2007), TB/HIV co-management course (2009), Supervisory management (2001), Integrated health commodities logistics (2003), Integrated disease surveillance and response (IDSR) 2007, Quality management for healthcare professionals (2005), Effective worker representation and union organizing and negotiation course (2009), enabling him equipped health professionals with knowledge, strategies and strength to lead and manage changes during the health sector reforms and enhance their contribution in the health services.
The knowledge and skills acquired will improve his performance which in turn will benefit many Kenyans and the world population at large. As part of professional growth and development, it is worthy for him to attend the 2012 GFMER course to learn new concepts in the field of sexual and reproductive health and research. The knowledge and skills acquired will improve his performance which in turn will benefit many Kenyans and the world population at large.
He enjoys listening to Lingala tunes (Nostalgia), traveling, and watching bull-fighting. He is entertaining, calm, polite and humorous.
