My name is Pierrette Kengela Disanka Joyce and I’m from DR Congo. I live in Cape Town, South Africa. I’m currently working at Sonke Gender Justice Network in the Refugee Health and Rights Project. Before coming to South Africa, I worked for three years as a General Nurse at OCC Medical Center in Kinshasa, DR Congo. I also volunteered for the Red Cross, providing healthcare support in emergency and war settings.

Since moving to South Africa, I’ve worked for Sisters4Sisters as a Young Girl Friends project coordinator dedicated to the empowerment of young girls in mind, body and spirit through enlightening workshops on personal and professional development and training, along with engaging community outreach in the areas of Domestic Violence, HIV/Aids and mentorship. I’m also working for the South African Medical Research Council as a field researcher specialist in the HIV migrant women survey project. I’m a member of the South African Institute of Health Care Managers. I hold a bachelor degree in Nursing and a postgraduate qualification in Health Management.
